Zimbabwe to host SSATP's 2019 Annual General Meeting in Victoria Falls

We are pleased to announce that Zimbabwe will be hosting the Africa Transport Policy Program's Annual Meeting and General Assembly in Victoria Falls from November 26-29, 2019. The central theme of the 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be on “Positioning Africa for a Sustainable Post-2020 Road Safety Agenda.”

Réunion Annuelle 2018 du SSATP - Présentations

La Réunion Annuelle du SSATP s'est tenue du 2 au 6 juillet 2018 à Abuja au Nigeria. Plus de 250 participants y ont assisté provenant de 30 pays (11 ministres, 6 secrétaires permanents), 8 institutions de coopération régionale (CEDEAO, SADC, CEEAC, UEMOA, EAC, COMESA, IGAD) et 11 partenaires de développement (UE, BAD, AFD, GBM, GIZ, ISDB, UNECA, IRU, JICA, USAID, AUC). Les bailleurs de fonds ont été très heureux de l'engagement de la Banque Mondiale (2 directeurs sectoriels et le responsable pays pour le Nigeria étaient présents).

2018 SSATP Annual Meeting - Presentations

The Annual Meeting of the Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP) was held in Abuja, Nigeria during the week of July 2-6, 2018. Over 250 participants attended the meeting from 30 countries (11 Ministers, 6 Permanent Secretaries), 7 Regional Economic Communities (ECOWAS, SADC, CEEAC, UEMOA, EAC, COMESA, IGAD), and 11 International Financing Institutions and Development Partners (EU, AfDB, AFD, WBG, GIZ, ISDB, UNECA, IRU, JICA, USAID, AUC). Donors were very much pleased to register WBG high level and strong team presence (2 Practice Managers and the Country Director for Nigeria).

Un système de suivi et d’évaluation (S&E) est un élément essentiel du processus de planification, de conception et de mise en œuvre d’un projet de transport rural, car il sert à déterminer si le projet a atteint son objectif de développement. Cependant, le suivi des résultats et la capacité de les utiliser pour une planification future est un grand défi pour le développement et l'amélioration du transport rural en Afrique. Le manque de données permettant de mesurer l’impact des projets de transport rural sur le développement et leurs effets positifs sur les pauvres est marquant.

Road Management Policy : An Approach to the Evaluation of Road Agency Performance

Efficient and effective road transport is central to the economic growth and development of all African countries, this mode accounting for about eighty to ninety percent of the continent’s total trade in goods and services. For this reason countries need adequate road infrastructure management policies, strategies and institutions to manage this crucial asset in an optimal manner including systematic means of measuring the performance of the road agencies as a basis for determining those factors that aid or impede the attainment of their desired results.

Axle Load Control Compliance Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya

A workshop organized with the Secretariat of the Northern Corridor Authority (TTCA-NC) took place on January 27, 2014 with participation of representatives from public regulatory authorities and private stakeholders of the trade and logistics community from the Northern Corridor countries, regional corridor and economic institutions, and development partners supporting transport and trade facilitation in East Africa.
