Understanding the Emerging role of Motorcycles in African Cities: A political Economy Perspective

This publication discusses the growth in the use of commercial motorcycles in sub-Saharan cities as a manifestation of the inability to address the delivery of urban transport services. This paper reveals a paradoxical situation where taxi motorcycles are more expensive than the lowest bus fares and yet are increasingly used by the poor.
