This Resource Guide on Mainstreaming Gender in Transport Policies and Projects is based on information from many sources and has benefited from the input of many contributors and reviewers. The Task Manager was George Banjo (Senior Transport Specialist, AFTTR) with Mari Clarke and Wendy Walker the main consultants. People who have contributed to the production of this Guide include: Peter Roberts who supported the application for TRISP funding under the aegis of the Transport and Social Responsibility Thematic Group of the World Bank and also provided useful comments; internal peer reviewers within AFTTR Antoine Lema, John Riverson and Dieter Schelling; external peer reviewers Michael Bamberger (Consultant Social Scientist), Mark C. The layout and production was by Monique Desthuis-Francis, Vadim Gorbach, Wycliffe Okoth, Eric Engelmann and Ben Huffman. Administration of the copyrighting process was facilitated by Valentina Kalk and Abdia Mohammed of EXTOP and Nina M. Jones, AFTTR.

Financial assistance for the production of the Guide has been from a grant under the Transport and Infrastructure Services Learning and Sharing Partnership (TRISP), a partnership between the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the World Bank, for learning and sharing of knowledge in the fields of transport and rural infrastructure services. The production of the Guide has also benefited from financial assistance from the Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP). The SSATP is a joint initiative of the World Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) to facilitate policy development and related capacity building in the transport sector of sub-Saharan Africa.

The findings, interpretations, conclusions expressed in the Guide are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of TRISP, the World Bank or SSATP.

1 The GRTI was the idea of Michael Bamberger (formerly World Bank, Social Development Department) and George Banjo which was implemented under the Rural Travel and Transport Program (RTTP) of the SSATP with participation of the Transport Desk of the UN Economic Commission for Africa under funding from the Development Grant Facility of the World Bank. The GRTI was administered by the regional NGO network MWENGO (Executive Secretary, Ezra Mbogori) with Petronella Maramba and Adeline Sibanda as the first and second Technical Advisers.

2 This project was financed under the Japan Staff and Consultant Trust Fund and was undertaken by a consortium led by IC Net Limited which included Transport Research Limited (TRL) and IFRTD.
