Presented by Girma Bezabeh (AfDB) at SSATP's Annual General Meeting in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, this presentation outlines the road safety work of the African Development Bank (AfDB). It provides an overview of: (i) the state of road safety in Africa;  (ii) the role of regional centres of Excellence (CoE) that provide training, certification and twinning programs to professionals; (iii) the areas to be covered by CoEs, such as road safety management, safer roads, safer vehicles, road users’ safety, and emergency medical care and rescue, and (iv) their institutional setup and operation, including their management, operation, and sustainability.
