Poverty Reduction Transport Strategy Review
The strategic objective of the Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Program (SSATP) for the period 2004-2007 was to anchor national transport strategies firmly in national goals and strategies for poverty reduction. To achieve this objective, a participatory process that enabled country stakeholders to review and adapt their poverty reduction and transport strategies was progressively implemented. Implementation and Impact of the Road Management Initiative: A Survey of Stakeholders in Seven Member Countries
Following extensive consultations with both public and private sector stakeholders, the Road Management Initiative (RMI) formerly known as Road Maintenance Initiative was launched in the late 1980.s as a component of the Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP). This program was led by the Africa Region Infrastructure Department of the World Bank and the Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in response to an increasing concern over deteriorating road infrastructure in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) despite substantial capital investments by governments and donors.
SSATP Review of National Transport Policy and Poverty Reduction Strategy: Progress Report 2005
For the period 2004-2007, SSATP's strategic objective was to anchor national transport strategies firmly in national goals and strategies for poverty reduction. To achieve this objective, a participatory process that enables country stakeholders to review and adapt their poverty reduction and transport strategies was progressively implemented in SSATP member countries. This report presents an overview of the progress made by November 2005 in implementing Poverty Reduction-Transport Strategy Reviews (PRTSR) in SSATP member countries.
