Rural Transport Regional Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya

The objective of the workshop is to support dissemination of SSATP knowledge products on Rural Transport (RT) to participants from the SSATP member countries as part of the ongoing advocacy for the adoption of good policies and practices on rural transport in Africa.

The workshop is a continuation and culmination of the three countries’ dissemination workshops conducted in Ghana, Malawi and Ethiopia in April 2014. In order to broaden dissemination, SSATP is collaborating with the International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD) to organize this workshop.


The objectives of the regional dissemination workshop are:

i) to encourage feedback from the RT stakeholders and validation of information and knowledge produced by the SSATP consultants on RT planning and prioritization and the M&E;
ii) to advocate for the improvement of RT planning and the M&E of impacts on poverty reduction and growth - as the basis for the workshop;
iii) to consider the role of RT in the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Framework.
