For the second edition of the joint UITP and SSATP webinar series on "Key Factors of Success to Formalize Informal Transport and the Significance of Authorities," Mr. Benjamin de la Peña delivered a presentation on making sense of makeshift mobility by leveraging a global and systems view of informal transportation. He argues that we can't transform the informal transport sector if we focus on vehicles, traffic management, or regulation alone, and proposes a holistic, systems view that takes into account history and society, local culture, information technology, mobility policies and regulations, business models, vehicles, urban policies and forms, infrastructure, and economic policies.
