Lagos Bus Rapid Transit: Africa's First BRT Scheme

This document describes how the first bus rapid transit system based on the well known good practice examples of Columbia and Brazil, adapted to the local context of Lagos, was implemented. It shows the strategic role of transport in a megacity like Lagos but also and maybe more importantly, the critical role of commitment and leadership at the highest levels of government for such a project to succeed. "Launched in March 2008, the new BRT system provided Lagos commuters with a clean, affordable and reliable means of getting around the city".

Gazing into the Mirror: Operational Internal Control in Cameroon Customs

Cameroon is a model example of a developing country facing the challenges of trade facilitation, in light of its geographic location within Central Africa. Close to 20 percent of its Customs revenues are used to finance the national budget. Cameroon’s Customs administration therefore plays a critical role in its economy. This paper presents the modernization process launched in Cameroon Customs in 2006 and, in particular, the original approach adopted—the very early introduction of operational internal control as the keystone of the reform process under way.

Final Report on Recommendations for Harmonized Definitions of Road Crash Data in Euro Med Partner Countries

Following a detailed diagnoses of road crash data systems in the region, the objective of this report is the analysis of international good practice regarding road safety data definitions and relevant protocols, and the transfer of knowledge to the Euro Med Partner Countries in order to improve comparability and quality of their road safety data.
