SSATP partnered with the World Bank, PPIAF, and MOLO to prepare a factor analysis report and assessment tool for identifying and analyzing the main factors influencing the financial sustainability and commercial viability of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This presentation summarizes the key findings of the factor analysis report and assessment tool. It was presented by Hongye Fan, Xuanxi Sheng and Edward Andrew Beukes at a joint SSATP-UITP webinar held on December 15, 2020.

3rd Joint UITP & SSATP Webinar: Presentation of the Shuttlers case study

For the third edition of the UITP and SSATP webinar series on "Innovations and New Solutions for Small / Individual Bus Operators - How to Adapt to the New Normal," Ms. Damilola Olokesusi presented a case study on Shuttlers, a call-in app for commuters in Lagos, Nigeria. With the Shuttlers app, commuters can book and pay for seats in advance on their preferred route, track the itinerary of their trip, and receive real-time notifications on arrival and departure times.

3rd Joint UITP & SSATP Webinar: Presentation on the Trufi App

For the third edition of the joint UITP and SSATP webinar series on "Innovations and New Solutions for Small/Individual Bus Operators - How to Adapt to the New Normal?," Mr. Hanser delivered a presentation on the Trufi App, an open-source multi-modal journey planner for semi-formal public transport in big cities. With the goal of empowering informal public transport, the app can easily be customized to create a public transport app for any city. The app has been launched in Cochabamba, Duitama, Accra, and Addis Ababa, with additional pilots in Manila and La Paz.
