SSATP Long-Term Development Plan (LTDP): 2004-2007

This report claims that SSATP has reached a turning point in its record of service to its partners. Demands on the SSATP as the single most tried and tested transport policy development program in SSA are being heard from a wider than ever range of institutions and stakeholders. These stakeholders clearly recognize the crucial role of efficient transport in Africa's development.

2003 Annual Meeting Proceedings

The report comprises the proceedings from the 2003 Annual Meeting of the Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP), and presents discussions held with stakeholders towards moving SSATP's long-term strategic objective - the development of transport sector policies and strategies that contribute fully to the national poverty reduction objectives and to the promotion of regional economic integration.

SSATP Work Program 2005

The 2005 Work Program maintains SSATP’s focus on the achievement of the Long-Term Development Plan's (LTDP) strategic goals, and activities are set out within the thematic framework adopted at the 2003 Kigali Annual General Meeting. The 2005 work plan benefits from the lessons of the relatively short implementation period of 2004. Program stakeholders at the Addis Ababa Annual Meetings reviewed implementation reports and identified improvements to “2004 activities” and wider issues to be addressed in 2005 and beyond.

SSATP Work Program 2004

The 2004 Work Plan is based on a matrix of priority issues and options which was a major output of the 2003 Kigali meeting. Three priority thematic areas defined at Kigali provide the locus for the bulk of the work plan's actions: (i) Road Management and Financing (RMF); (ii) Transport Services, and (iii) Regional Transport Facilitation. Moreover, the twin pillars of SSATP's Long-Term Development Plan (LTDP 2004-2007) - national and regional approaches - provide the framework for the 2004 work plan.

SSATP Annual Report 2007

The 2007 annual report which marks the end of the Long Term Development Plan (LTDP) that started in 2004. Over the past four years, Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP) has become the lead program in facilitating transport policy dialogue and development among non-transport and transport sector stakeholders.

SSATP Annual Report 2005

The annual report provides an overview of activities conducted under SSATP's Long Term Development Plan (LTDP) in 2005. During the reporting period, work program activities intensified and started to deliver results. The program's principal objective and main focus remained that of anchoring transport in poverty reduction strategies. The year also saw increased involvement of high level policy makers in the policy development process. At the level of the African Union, the Ministers of Transport adopted transport targets and indicators for achieving the MDG.

SSATP Annual Meeting 2005: Planning Retreat Report

The 2005 Annual Meeting of SSATP - to take place in Bamako, Mali, in November 2005 - is a key strategic milestone for the program. The implementation of SSATP's Long-Term Development Plan (LTDP) for 2004-2007 is well underway, but challenges remain in converting policy lessons into practice. SSATP's member countries and partners also face new challenges, such as how to address the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and respond to new arrangements for donor funding.
