Ticket validators

After a ticket has been issued, its use has to be validated against the criteria set by the operator for the authority to travel on the specific service. In most cases, this validation must also protect against the re-use or re-sale of the ticket for another journey not authorized by the original purchase.

Devices for this purpose, and their effectiveness, range from simple mechanical punches through to sophisticated time-recording printers.
