Daily fares cap

Many urban areas provide for a daily limit on the total fares that can be charged any passenger so as to protect those who have no choice but to make long or complex journeys.

The effect is similar to a periodic pass for one day, and it is normally priced at a premium to the return-trip fare from the locality so as to recognize the additional travel that will be made. In some cases, a lower price is set for all travel after the morning peak.
